Privacy for the text summarizer

Short version: your text stays with you. We do not need it, we do not keep it and we do not look at it.

What happens to your text

When you press Summarize, the summary is made by code that runs inside your own browser. Your text is not uploaded to our server and it is not sent to any AI service. When you close or reload the tab, the text is gone.

Files you pick with "Upload file" are read by your browser too. They are not sent to us.

The one exception: JavaScript switched off

If JavaScript is switched off in your browser, the tool cannot run on your device. In that case the form sends your text to our server once, the summary is made in memory and sent back to you. The text is not written to a database, a file or a log. An uploaded file is read and deleted straight away.

To stop abuse, the server counts how many requests come from one visitor in ten minutes. For that it keeps a short list of times next to a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. It never keeps your text. A small session cookie called spgts protects this form against fake requests. It is deleted when you close the browser.

Recent summaries

This is off unless you tick "Keep my recent summaries". Then the last 10 summaries are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. We cannot see them. "Clear history" deletes them. Clearing your browser data deletes them too.

The tool also remembers your chosen theme (dark or light) and interface language in your browser. That is all it stores.

Sharing

Nothing is shared unless you press a share button. WhatsApp, email and your phone's share menu then receive only the summary you chose to share, and their own privacy rules apply.

Fonts, ads and statistics

The fonts are stored on our own server. The page does not load anything from Google Fonts or other font services.

This page does not show ads at the moment. If ads are added later, this note and our main privacy policy will say so first.

This tool does not use visitor statistics right now. If we add them, they will only count anonymous button clicks and never your text.

Future AI option

An AI summary may be offered later as a separate, clearly marked option. That option would have to send your text to an outside AI service. It will only run when you choose it, and the page will tell you before it does. The free summary will keep working in your browser without it.
